2016, A Badly Bent Year......

It's almost over.  And it's been a rocky one!

First of all, I realize that in the Grand Scheme of things that people have had to endure planet-wide, I've really got nothing to complain about.  Nobody dropped bombs on my head, nobody killed or tortured any of my loved ones, etc.

So bearing all that in mind, relatively, for me, it was a stinker of a year.

I don't want to bum anyone out, but here's the Reader's Digest version...in chronological order:

1) I had several major equipment failures/issues at Blue Feather Studios, some of which cost some fairly high (for me) $$ to fix.
2) People that said they were going to do things didn't do them, leaving me dead in the water on a few projects, and some fairly decent (for me) $ in the hole.
3) I had some health issues that required fun things like CAT scans and X-rays. (But I'm feeling much better now....)
4) Speaking of cat scans, my cat had some health issues that required fun things like lots (for me) of $$ to fix.
5) My wife had some ongoing health issues for a good portion of the year.  She's getting better, but it's a work in progress.
6) I had to spend a grand on a new windshield for my 3 week old car.
7) Other people that said they were going to do things but haven't done them, leaving me dead in the water on other projects.
8) The first week into December I managed to give myself a concussion via an oil drum to the head at work.  Probably one of the few drum related concussions that didn't involve Keith Moon.
9) The very day I decided to resume work on my album again, my sewer pipe in my basement backed up, pouring some very questionable water all over my basement floor and resulting in my having to completely rip up/throw out my flooring (which was only a few years old!) and some of the baseboards and wall bits.  Oh, and completely strip down and deconstruct my studio, resulting in the majority of it being set into Rubbermaid containers for a few weeks.   That was 3 days before Christmas too, so I've spent most of my holidays ripping out, cleaning, and then trying to rebuild to some degree, my basement and studio.  There was, in fact, a one week period where I fully planned to leave my studio disassembled, and just sell all my gear and just play Xbox every evening like a normal person.  Thanks to an outpouring of support and encouragement though, Blue Feather Studios is rebuilt and better than it was before!
10) Through my own foibles (procrastination, resistance and fear, mostly, I've managed to accomplish almost nothing musically in the last year.

A very special thank you to all my fans, friends, and loved ones who gave me support and encouragement throughout the year.  Obviously, some really really cool stuff happened too, but that would require a much longer post.

I don't know what 2016 holds, hell, it could even be worse than this last year.......but I am optimistic that it will be a great year for me, my wife, and my music.

Sounds like 2016 will just have to be better! (Barring a Sharknado disaster..). I sincerely hope 2016 is a turnaround for you Steve!!
